MADISON, Wis. — As part of the celebration around its 10th anniversary, the Global Women’s Leadership network is recognizing “GWLN champions.” Established by
the World Council of Credit Unions in 2009, the goal of the GWLN is to provide credit union women with the opportunity to network and make a measurable difference in the lives of each other, in the lives of members and within their communities.
Since establishment, GWLN has grown to more than 2,600 female and male members with nearly 100 chapters (sister societies) in the U.S. and internationally in 18 countries, has provided 52 scholarships to women from 22 countries, and raised over $2.5 million to make a measurable difference for credit union families, according to the World Council.
“Congratulations to all our volunteers and supporters for the incredible momentum in 2018,” said Susan Mitchell, founding chair of the Network and CEO of Mitchell, Stankovic & Associates, during a recent GWLN strategic planning session with sister society leaders. “We need to think big in 2019 to grow our membership and build our brand to create scale that will enhance our impact locally and globally.”
