unions might be established to help refugees and others in the region.

While in Kurdistan, Branch met with the minister of Finance, Rebaz M. Hamlan, and others.

In an email to CUToday.info, Branch said he had been invited by former members of the U.S. military who are serving in Iraq.

“We are looking into how formation of credit unions might help refugees in the camps find a way to build assets and work their way towards a productive economy,” said Branch in the email. “They are also determined to find a way through credit unions to empower young women who have escaped ISIS slavery to regain their dignity and engage in economic productive activities.”

Below, Branch is shown meeting with a family on how to organize a credit union in the tents of refugees camps in Duhok Kurdistan.
