Licensed Financial Advisor
The Financial Advisor provides members with a well thought out financial plan and highly ethical investment strategies in line with the members’ goals. This role is responsible for actively developing investment relationships with members and meeting with them periodically to ensure investment strategies are aligned with member financial planning. The Financial Advisor remains current with the markets and investment options to provide the most effective results.
Member Relations - Establishes and maintains member Firehouse Financial relationships, communicating annually with each on the status of their investments. Provide detailed and accurate financial planning and investment options to members, recommending investment strategies and selling investment products. Develops and maintains long-term relationships based on trust, ethical practices, and integrity, with respect for members and employees. Travel to fire stations and members’ households to provide excellent member service.
Account Management - Establishes new accounts, completes necessary documents, and maintains data in appropriate software in keeping with compliance and audit requirements. Maintain accurate and complete member records and files of account transactions. Reviews and recommends appropriate changes to members’ financial plans as required. Effectively and respectfully corresponds with all members by phone, in person, and in writing (including emails, meetings, and voice mails) with accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
Regulatory/Market Requirements - Ensure compliance with regulations as established by the Credit Union, FINRA, SEC, CUSO Financial Services, and any and all other governing and regulating entities.
Business Plans/Other Assignments - Support the attainment of production goals established for Firehouse Financial.Contributes and supports the Credit Union’s strategic goals and Firehouse Financial Business Plan objectives. Supports the Credit Union’s mission to deliver value-added products and services by working on other assignments, actively and respectfully participating on project teams, and contributing specialized knowledge and resources, ensuring all affected employees are informed.
A minimum of five years of experience in the financial industry, with a demonstrated strong working knowledge and understanding of financial institution products and services.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or other related discipline.
Must possess and maintain Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66 licenses and have a California Life and Health Insurance certification and be bondable through CUSO.
Demonstrated successful financial investment experience, including a keen understanding of services and taxation strategies associated with providing financial advice in keeping with members’ goals and limited experience.
Demonstrated successful sales experience utilizing persuasive and consultative selling techniques.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preparing complex spreadsheet applications and utilizing word processing and database applications, with demonstrated ability to maintain client data base.Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, including excellent group presentation skills, through in-person, phone, email and other electronic channel interactions, with strong English reading and comprehension.
Demonstrated strong ability to organize work, handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines.
Demonstrated proficiency in conducting basic office functions (e.g. answering phones, copying, assembling reports, sending and receiving correspondence).
Must provide own transportation and proof of valid automobile insurance.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, incumbent is required to remain in the normal seated position throughout the work day, using hands to perform data entry, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The role requires standing and walking throughout the work day and may occasionally require lifting and carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include hand/eye coordination using both hands, including seizing, holding, and grasping.
Work Environment: The noise level in the environment is usually minimal.
