OCALA, Fla.-Scotty Andrews, the chairman of Ocala Community Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee and a long-time admired fixture in this central Florida community, has died. Andrews, 80, had served on the OCCU Supervisory Committee for the past six years.
Andrews served as City Manager in Ocala for 20 years, 1979-1999, after holding other positions in the city prior to that.
The Ocala Star-Banner noted that “his friends, colleagues and family say he was a warm, friendly and approachable man. The kind of person you wanted to spend time with or the kind of man you wanted to work for. The city is better off because Andrews was at the city government’s helm.”
Andrews, who was an Ocala native, is survived by his wife, Diane, and two children, Scott Andrews and Stacey Batten.
The credit union has erected a banner and is flying its flag at half-mast until Andrews is buried on April 28.
