BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - America’s First has revealed the three charities to be part of its 2019 Community First Campaign. Through September, AmFirst employees will raise money for Aletheia House, Sight Savers America, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
For six years now, AmFirst employees have chosen three charities that would be their company-wide fundraising campaign called Community First. The Community First campaign is a shared mission among all AmFirst employees to support the communities where employees live, work, and attend school.
“We are very excited to kick off our 2019 Community First campaign and look forward to working with our three benefactors, Aletheia House, Sight Savers America, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. These organizations do unbelievable work in our communities, and we are honored to be partnering with them and assisting them in carrying out their missions,” said Bill Connor, AmFirst president/CEO.
The credit union said the three charities will benefit from the involvement and support through financial contribution, volunteer efforts, and financial literacy over the next several months. Last year, more than $111,000 was raised for Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama, and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. The 2018 campaign donations were funded from a Sporting Clays Charity Tournament, the annual Charity Open Golf Tournament, numerous fundraising sales and events.
The Community First campaign has raised $393,000 for 17 nonprofits over the last five years.
