PORTSMOUTH, N.H.– Service Credit Union said it is partnering with the Veteran Entrepreneurial Training and Resource Network (VETRN) to host a “Streetwise MBA” program for veteran business owners at its corporate headquarters this fall.
Starting in September 2019, the credit union said the 26-week program will feature 13 weeks of Saturday morning classroom sessions with 12 to 20 participants, as well as 13 weeks of peer-to-peer mentoring sessions. The course curriculum will include strategic planning, financial management, cash flow forecasting, marketing a small business, sales methods, human resources, developing a growth plan, access to capital, legal issues and government contracting.
“As an organization that has always been dedicated to serving our military and improving their financial well-being, we are excited to help support veterans with the training they need to grow their businesses and achieve their long-term goals,” said Aimee Sundstrom, community relations manager at Service Credit Union.
$100,000 in Funding
In addition, Service CU said VETRN has partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration earlier in July that includes $100,000 in funding for its Veteran Owned Small Business Growth Pilot Training Program. The goal of the Veteran Owned Small Business Growth Training program is to equip participants with the resources and networks necessary to grow their small businesses.
To qualify for the program, applicants must be a current business owner with at least one year of operation and one employee (not including the owner), and annual revenues of $75,000 or more.
